Bacon Spray

Ya'll...I have some seen some crazy fun things in my days but this is definitely at the top of the list. It is a bacon flavored spray that you put on your dogs dry food. Now I must admit that Maverick is not one to love dry dog food and he only eats it overnight (I was glad to hear he was not the only dog to do that) but I am not sure if I want to go out and get this spray. But I have to admit that the dog is super cute in the photos.

What a cutie! So I did some research about this spray and it is actually full of Omega 3 and Omega 6. Both of these are proven to be beneficial to your dogs skin and coat. Plus it says it is a natural lubricant to make the food go down easier. I am not sure Maverick has this problem but I guess it wouldn't hurt.

Chicken By-Product Meal?

Hello all my favorite doggy fans...

So I was snooping around on one my favorite dog websites and I was something that caught my eye. So I am going to post it below word for word...

"In pet food, meal refers to the physical state of the ingredient not the contents. Chicken meal is dried granular chicken. Chicken by-product meal, are the parts not used as nuggets ground & dried."

There have been a ton of info about "corn gluten" and "chicken by-product meal" on the dog food commercials that are out on the TV these days but I feel like this is super important information that clears things up a little bit.

Chicken Meal is not the same thing as Chicken By-Product Meal!!!

Time to go check my dog food again...

Rehydrate Your Dog

We are one of those couples that likes to take our dog with us wherever we can. He goes to friends houses, parks and kickball. But sometimes I worry that he is getting dehydrated when we are gone for a few hours or more. But I was looking for a dog hiking product for a friend of mine and I can across this awesome product. It would be perfect for when you and your dog are gone all day. Think hiking, festivals or sporting events (we have minor league sporting events here in Charleston where you can bring your pet).

Rehydrate! These little tablets mix with 16 oz of water each to help rehydrate your dogs electrolytes and energy. It contains vitamin c and other antioxitant minerals. I think I might need to get a tube of these since it is only $9.99 (here). Then I can have them on hand in case of an emergency. I will put them in the emergency kit. This would also be awesome to keep in the car incase the car breaks down and we have to abandon the car on foot.

Maddie the Coonhound

Have you heard of Maddie the Coonhound? Well let me tell y'all that she is super cute and way more balance than me. Maddie is a rescue coonhound and with her owner are out showing support for rescuing animals. This is a topic that is close to my heart because my dog, Maverick, is a rescue. He was found on the side of the road when he was 8 weeks old. People's stupidity always amazes me. Sorry but I feel like these people are stupid. There are tons of no-kill shelters everywhere and they take animals with no questions asked. So why would you leave them abandoned? Stupidity!

Maverick wins Dog of the Day!

So I feel the need to brag a little bit y'all. Maverick was picked as the Dog of Day from Best Bully Sticks! Check it out (just got search for Best Bully Stick on Facebook) and make sure to like it or leave a comment. So far the best comment is that he looks like Brian from Family Guy. Hilarious! (but not true in my opinion)

While you are there looking around on the Facebook site make sure to go to their website and look around. I highly recommend it if you don't know what bully sticks are. Maverick LOVES them and they are much better than rawhides for your dog. FYI...please do not ever give your dogs rawhides. They are so bad for their digestive system.

Pet Fest 2013

It is time for Pet Fest 2013 here in Charleston, SC! There is a ton of information for this two day event so I am going to give you the exact verbage from Lowcountry Dog Magazine.

I want you to meet Milo and Eddie. Eddie is a Black Lab and Milo is a crossbreed terrier. They are best friends and spend all their time together. But the cool part is that Milo is Eddies seeing eye dog. Well it is not official but ever since Eddie's eye sight started to diminish Milo has acted as his eyes in the world. That is what being a best friend is all about...

Westminster Dog Show 2013

I was not home all of last night to catch the 2013 Westminster Dog Show but I was able to catch part of it. And I have to say I really enjoyed watching the Best In Show finale. I am sad to say the Foxhound did not win but let me tell you who did win.

For the first time they named a Best In Show reserve and it was not surprise that the crowd favorite Old English Sheep Dog won this honor. Meet Swagger...

I love that dog is only 20 months old and has only competed in 4 shows in his life. He certainly made the crowd cheer.

BEST IN SHOW...
The winner of this years show was the group winner from the Toy group. This little guy had the crowd behind him and apparently the judges too. Meet Banana Joe...

Banana Joe is an Affenpinscher and the cutest little dog on the show! The best part is that this was his last competition and he won. Banana Joe is retiring after a long career. Congrats Banana Joe and we hope you enjoy your retirement!

Wacky Walker

Do you have a problem with your dog pulling on their leash? I just found this cool company that will make the pulling leash much easier on you. The main part of the leash is a reinforced rubber that is designed to stretch. This will absorb the tension instead of it pulling on your arm.

The leashes come in both an urban version (much shorter for sidewalk use) and then a normal size that is longer. There are several sizes based on your dogs size and prices range from $26-30.

Purina and Milo's Kitchen Dog Treat Recall

I want to make sure everyone has heard about this recall of dog treats. Purina has recalled Waggin' Train and Canyon Creek Ranch treats as well as they will no longer be available for sale in the US. Milo's Kitchen has done the same thing for their Chicken Jerky and Chricken Grillers home-style dog treats.

This is due to the fact they may contain a trace of a poultry antibiotic that is legal in China and Eurpoe but not in the US. If you have any of these treats please do not feed anymore to your dog.
